Medicine for health, not disease
A doctor who meets youwhere you are.Literally.
Primary care and longevity medicine from the only physician in North Carolina fully certified in Health Optimization Medicine. Reach me when you need me, and I come to your home to find what is actually affecting your health.
Time to hear your whole story. Training to get to the bottom of it. I keep my practice small on purpose, and visits end when your questions do.
I call you personally.

The system you know
You already know this list.
- Twelve rushed minutes with a doctor watching the screen, not you.
- You message the portal about something that worries you. Days later, a stranger replies.
- Four doctors for four parts of you, and every one of them looking for disease.
- “Your labs are normal. See you next year.”
Your health is nobody’s job.
That is why I built this practice.
Real medicine, the old-fashioned way, backed by the science of this decade.

The First Visit
It starts at your kitchen table.
Hi, I’m Daniel Tagge. Third-generation physician, husband, father. I trained at MUSC, finished residency at Carolinas Medical Center, and spent years inside a system that never gave me the time to actually help my patients. So I left and started my own practice.
Now the first visit happens where it works for you: your kitchen table, or a video call. Bring all of it. Every bottle in your cabinet, every question you have been saving. For most people it is the first time they have had room to tell their whole story, start to finish, to a physician who is listening instead of typing. I listen first. Then we build one plan that is yours and no one else’s.
We’re not done until you’re out of questions. And you know what to do.

What I practice
I see the whole person.
Medicine divides you into parts and assigns each one to someone else. I trained in three disciplines that, together, cover the person who actually walks around in the world: the everyday medicine, the chemistry underneath it, and the nervous system running both.
01
Primary care
Board-certified family medicine. What comes up, what needs watching, what keeps you well, and one person responsible for all of it.
02
Health Optimization Medicine
Your chemistry measured at the level of its molecules. Hormones, nutrients, and toxicities, found and corrected.
03
Energy, breath, and the nervous system
Medical acupuncture, breathing, and meditation, trained at the Helms Medical Institute. For pain, sleep, stress, and recovery, in your own home.
One doctor holding all three at once. That is what whole person means here.
Ways to begin
Start where you are. I’ll meet you there.
“I want to start with a conversation.”
A Consultation
A free call first. Then, if you want to go deeper, a full consultation on screen or at your kitchen table.
See how it works“I want to know what is actually going on in my body.”
The Deep Dive
The complete at-home workup of your metabolism, hormones, nutrients, and gut, explained line by line. For the symptoms nobody has explained, and for the next level nobody has shown you.
See what is included“I want one doctor who knows me, for the long run.”
Membership
My full practice, capped at fifty patients, to ensure the highest quality of care. House calls and my direct number.
Membership, in fullEvery door starts the same way: a free call with me.
The Method
“Normal” only means no disease yet.
Every lab you have ever had was read against disease thresholds. The question was: does this person have a disease yet? Land short of the cutoff and you are called normal, however you feel.
Many people then spend thousands digging for root causes. The instinct is right. Most of that searching is still aimed at disease, just caught earlier.
I practice Health Optimization Medicine: root cause medicine for health itself. I measure the chemistry your health runs on, compare it to optimal ranges rather than to disease thresholds, and correct what is off. Then we measure again.
What I look at, in plain English
- How your cells make energy. Metabolomic testing, such as organic acids.
- The gut bacteria your digestion and immunity depend on.
- Nutrients and hormones. Too little or too much, found and corrected.
- Your lipids, followed over time instead of one snapshot.
Measured. Compared to optimal. Corrected. Measured again.
The plan every patient takes home: plain English, built from your chemistry, rewritten as your results come in.
Aging, inflammation, and disease travel the same three stages. I work at stage one.
The full method, stage by stageHow care works
The parts that usually go missing.
You call or text me, and I answer.
Not a portal, not a phone tree, not a message that lands on a stranger's desk.
Same-day care when something goes wrong.
At your house or on screen, whichever gets you handled faster.
I come with you to the appointments that matter.
A new diagnosis, a surgical consult, any decision you should not have to make alone.
Everything at cost.
Labs, medications, and supplements at what I pay, with the invoices in front of you. I take no markup, ever.
None of this is new. It is what having a doctor used to mean.
“The work he does is a different category of medicine. If you're tired of being told everything looks fine, or you know your health could be better, start here.”

One physician. Fifty patients. And you can fire me.
I keep the practice small on purpose, because the medicine described on this page cannot be done two thousand patients at a time. When the practice is full, the waitlist opens, and I will tell you honestly how long it is.

The Fire Your Doctor Guarantee
If you are ever less than thrilled with your care, tell me and I will return my fee. Testing already paid to the labs is not refundable. And I will ask one question: what could I have done better?

Questions
Common questions.
A conversation, nothing more. With me, not a scheduler. I hear what is going on, you hear how I work, and if I am not the right fit I will point you somewhere better. No charge, no card.
